Who?
Since becoming a psychotherapist I have worked with a wide
range of people:
-
-
-
some in their late teens and others long
past retirement age, as well as all ages in between;
-
people with previous experience of counselling
or pyschotherapy and others who knew little about it before
their first appointment;
-
heterosexual, bisexual, gay and lesbian
clients; transgendered people;
-
those whose jobs include secretary, firefighter,
wildlife ranger, electrician, academic, nurse, teacher,
manager, technician, counsellor, student, sales rep, home-maker,
factory worker, etc etc; and some who have been unemployed
or retired;
-
British people and those from elsewhere,
including some whose first language is not English.
Who will benefit from this approach?
Most people who want their lives to change, and are willing
to reflect on how they think, feel and act, would find my approach
appropriate.
If you want to deal quickly with a minor problem of behaviour,
you may find cognitive behavioural or NLP counselling most effective.
However, if you know that this behaviour is long-standing and
difficult for you, it probably has deeper roots, which I would
help you work with to effect long-term change.
If you suffer from a mental illness, please check with your
GP or psychiatrist that psychotherapy is likely to be helpful
for you at this time.
